Facts About Rock Water Fountains

By Kenneth Kennedy

When most people think of water fountains, they imagine big outdoor structures that handle thousands of gallons of water. However, what such people fail to understand is that even small well-design rock water fountains can provide enough visual and auditory impact. Fountains can be designed for both indoor and outdoor settings. When designed for indoor settings, it is important that they are designed to match the theme and decor of the space.

Prior to the installation of a fountain, it is essential to first settle on a design. There are a number of available designs already for one to choose from. Clients with specific needs can request for designs that are custom-built to satisfy. Both corporate and individual clients can acquire fountains that are custom-built from a large number of existing companies. After settling on the design, the installation and construction job should be done by a company that is experienced and skilled in the industry.

If the structure is meant to be installed permanently, it is important to ensure that it is installed in the right place. The cost of relocating an already installed fountain can be the same as the cost of installing a new one. As such, one should start by picking a spot of installation first. The spot should be centrally located so that the structure will attract attention and add beauty.

Maintenance of the structure is also very important. One of the major activities involved in maintenance is ensuring that the structure has enough liquid at all times. The pumping of water from the basin so that it can splash to the ground by gravity is done by a pump. Pumps are usually powered by electricity or liquid fuels like gasoline. As such, for the pump to work well, it must have enough water always.

Pumps usually burn out in case the basin does not have water. Water is a key requirement as it aids maintaining the proper functioning of the pump and cooling it. One is required to constantly check the water level in order to refill the basin if the level drops below the set standard. There are numerous ways through which liquid loss occurs from a fountain, evaporation being one.

Water in outdoor fountains may be lost due to animal activity. Pets, wild and domestic animals are commonly attracted by sources of waters. They will therefore be attracted to fountains since it is a source of waters for them to drink. Such activities will usually lead to a significant drop in water levels.

Cleaning the entire structure every once in a while is also very important. Dust and other kinds of dirt may accumulate in the fountain after some period of time, and must be removed to keep the structure properly functional. The dirt may come from the environment or may be introduced by animals and children.

Among the components making up a fountain are taps, pumps, and pipes. After sometime there is a likelihood of the components undergoing depreciation due to wear. When the damage occurs, one has to hire a professional to repair or replace the damaged components. For detection of any problems, one should ensure the structure is inspected regularly.
